Help I've had 8 cats over the years all rescues.

There is nothing even remotely cat shaped out there in the shelters or anywhere else. I think there has been a massive rise in adopting due to lockdown.

If anyone knows of a cat that needs rehoming or rescuing in or around Somerset will you let me know.

Its been the first time in 40 years I've had no cat!!

Yes, rehoming has been the briskest we've ever known. There are though still thousands of unwanted cats out there, but our rescue is limited on space to bring them in, get them neutered, and limited on the staff to deal with homing, so we aren't able to get all the unwanted cats available matched up with potential owners due to logistics and resources. I imagine most rescues have the same problems.

Hang on in there though. Kitten season is just starting. By end April there will be thousands of unwanted kittens, and by mid May there will be far, far too many to cope with. This will also mean that homes will go to kittens and adult cats will end up languishing in shelters (if they manage to get a place) once again. So just a couple more months and I'm sure you'll have you new cat/kittens.

Hi there, yes I'm always on there but there just aren't the cats. I am terrified that after lockdown ends and everyone goes back to work all these pets will be dumped back into the shelters as people decide they don't want to tie of a cat or dog.
I've decided to wait a while, I'm not over my cat really - are you ever - and need time to grieve properly. The right cat will turn up eventually.
