Matted long hair cat

I've noticed over the past week or so a few matts on my big fluffy ginger boy, I've managed to get most out by gentle brushing but he's got quite a big one on either side, kind of in the middle of his body and just down from his back.

I've been looking on line at brushes to remove them but I'm worried they are too big.

I feel terrible, and will defo be upping his grooming routine. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove them?

I'll be googling local cat groomers tomorrow too.

Pic of him in his new fave sleeping spot, the dogs cage Smile

@dementedpixie I use this one, but I'm sure they're all pretty much the same whichever you buy, he definitely doesn't like it, but looks far more comfortable once the matted fur is gone!

Here's a picture of our cat having his tummy brushed, he loves that, but hates having his back brushed, which is where he gets all matted!

Mine hates his tummy or back legs being touched. He has matts everywhere now I think

Ha! Love it Emotionally - that's what my girlcat does too - although she has to be facing left, sideways across my lap, my legs have to be straight out and covered with a blanket (but NOT the yellow one). If any of these conditions aren't met she stands on the arm of the settee giving me an accusing look and occasionally reaching out a paw as if to point at where she should be if I would only get the basics right!

@StrawberryFizz26 she used rescue remedy on my friends cat. Who hates being groomed. She was positively angelic!
