Anybody using a tracker in their cats collar?

We have a one year old neutered male who has been with us for 7 weeks. He was a feral/semi feral and although is still scared of his own shadow he is very friendly and playful now. He isn't allowed out yet, cat flap and windows are all locked but summer is coming and at some point I will let him out (or he will find an open window). I was thinking of putting a tracking collar on him when we get closer to that time so that if he does leg it then we have an idea where to find him. I've done lots of googling but wondered if anyone had any experience of these?

We used one for quite a while for our three. We had the tractive collars.Whilst they are great as we live quite rurally and saved me a lot of anxiety when they didn’t come home one day it’s a total pain when they lose them which happened at least once a week. We gave up in the end because we didn’t have time to go on long walks to retrieve them all the time.
