Cat stuck on neighbour's roof

Hi, posting here because I've run out of ideas
Our 9y/o cat has got herself stuck on our neighbour's roof. It's only a one storey extension but she's been up there crying for hours and won't get down. The extension is on the other side of their garden so we can only access it via neighbour's property - problem is, he's very reclusive, and won't answer the door. We haven't seen him leave the house in the year we've lived here (granted, we're in a pandemic). None of the lights are on but we think we saw him through a window. We've knocked loads and posted a note through the letterbox so decided to just squeeze through a gap in the fence and try to get her with a ladder. Unfortunately she's terrified and runs away when we try to grab her. Tried treats etc but nothing works, she's just crying at neighbour's window.
I'm really worried about going into his garden again - sounds silly but he might be dangerous, or call the police or something. We decided to give her another hour or so to get herself down but I wanted to ask if there was anything else we should try? I just want her home ☹️ thanks in advance

go and get your cat, if the police is called you can at least say you tried to ask permission to go into his garden

Post a note saying what you are up to, so you don't frighten him, then do what you need to in order to get the cat back.

Can you ask the neighbours on the other side who abut the extension? Just ask them if they can put a wheely bin or something there for the cat to jump down to. It's possible something was there and has been moved.

The very vast majority of cats can get down by themselves though, even if it takes them a whole to engage their brain!

She will probably come down in her own time if you leave some treats/fish for her, maybe prop the ladder against the wall to help her get down?

Sometimes they like to make a drama for a few hours before they come down and the fire brigade won't come out tol they get the nod from the rspca who won't give it for a good 24hrs.

I hope that she has learned her lesson!

I'm glad she's down

My cat squawks at you when on a roof, though is perfectly able to get down

You know now she's been up there she will go again

TaraR2020 · 23/02/2021 20:10

Oh bless her, poor thing - and the relief you must have felt to have her back!

A happy ending!
