Cat just disappeared

Has anyone's cat ever just disappeared?

I don't want to give up hope but I am worried how I will cope with the not ever knowing what happened to him.

He rarely went out for more than a few hours so I don't think he's moved in with another family.

So sad.

A cat near us was reunited with owners after 4 years recently. How long has he been gone? It's quite common for nosy cats to shut in garages, sheds etc and not get released until someone goes onto them. Have a look on your local cat rescue page, they usually have a list of things to do when your cat goes missing.

Having had many cats since l was a kid l've lost count of the times they wandered off for days/weeks only to casually stroll back in the house as if they were never away.
Have you tried putting up missing posters in the area or on your local Facebook. Also putting REWARD if found tends to catch people's eye.
