Help! Cat sneezing/wheezing

Hi All

My 13 year old cat has finally come to live with me after a year apart whilst I separated from my partner snd moved.

He was previously an outdoor cat but now is an indoor cat as I live in a flat. Not ideal but he’s older now and enjoys a much slower pace of life.

Last week I noticed him sneezing a lot- no discharge from his nose or runny eyes. Just sneezing which turned into wheezing and generally sounding chesty. His purrs became quite phlegmy sounding (sorry) and so I took him to the vet on Friday.

He’s been fine in terms of eating, drinking and going to loo. Seems well in himself. Vet did X-rays and saw some inflammation and gave me an antibiotic for him and an anti-inflammatory.

Since then he’d been ok- not much sneezing but this morning at 5am he had a horrible attack. Sneezing, wheezing, looming panicked and trying to catch his breath. I sat with him calmly and tried to Pat his back (in desperation really!) to try and help him. After 5 minutes it passed and he seemed ok. Now he’s asleep.

I’ve got a check up again at vets this evening, but wanted to know if anyone has experienced similar? I’ve been wracking my brains on whether it’s something in the flat he’s allergic to (originally thought it was his wool blanket and took it away but no change)- I use Ecover cleaning products but do air the flat regularly with windows open etc. It’s so upsetting seeing him like this, I just don’t know what to do or if I’m missing something?!

One of my Persians does it. She's got a tiny nose. She just gets a bit blocked up. And unfortunately you can't tell her to blow her nose.
