Cat doesn't know how to play with anything other than laser dot.

My youngest cat used to play with ping pong balls and feather sticks, but then became addicted to the laser dot and won't play with anything other than that now. I've tried to distract her with other things, but she won't have it and cries until I bring it out.

I'm so worried that she's getting bored and I don't know how I can enrich her life. We have a garden, but she feels the cold and won't go out at the moment.

I've bought a selection of toys for her, but she's having none of it. Can anyone suggest anything really good that might win her over?

I would just let her play with the laser dot. She will let you know if she gets bored with it. There’s also ear buds, hair ties, loo roll holders, shoe laces.

Mine has loads of toys but just wants a piece of string Grin

Is it the you needing to be there at the other end of the laser dot that's the issue? There must be an automatic light display thing on sale somewhere!

Yes, I also have an automatic laser dot, but she prefers me because I move all around the house and garden 🤦‍♀️

You are being played by an absolute pro Grin

Mine also likes string Hmm. She will fetch it and drop it at my feet to get me to wave it around for her. However if I am not here, the string moves around the house, so I am obviously not actually required for entertaining Grin

My now older cat cannot play full stop, waft anything in front of him and he has never shown any interest. He does however occassionally run around the house crazily by himself, that is about as close to play as he has ever gotten.
My other teenage cat is a different matter, anything that moves is still a target.

Sorry, not very helpfulGrin

Neither of mine play much, but Snorg will occasionally wrestle with toys with feathers on and she likes balls. Screwed up Tin foil has gone down well.
