Chromic pancreatitis

Hi all, my lovely Siamese has been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis . The vet said that it can be controlled by diet. She’s suggested royal canin gastrointestinal . At the moment she likes it but I’m wondering what else she can eat. No dreamies I’m guessing or bits of beef from our dinner?

No. Please take your vets advice on this. The prescription diets are the treatment. Treats would make the diet pointless. The diets come in dry and wet though so you keep some kibble back for 'treats'. The GI diets are very low in fat which is what your cats needs.
Dreamies are basically donuts for cats.

You need to be very careful, as anything fatty can send her into relapse.

If she is ok on that food keep up with it, she may be off it at times but that doesn’t mean it is a good idea to give her other options.

I found that when mine was having a relapse the best solution was to stop feeding her for a day (as recommended by the vet) then feed rice for a day, the next day was rice with a little bit of her food, and increase the percentage of her food over rice until she was back 100% on her food.

Thanks for clarifying. I guessed that she wasn’t allowed dreamies etc. I just wondered if there were any other varieties of food or fat free treats, but I’ll make sure that she just eats this and doesn’t steal the chicken after dinner today
. She does like eating mice as she’s a good hunter ( when it’s not cold) but I’m not sure what I can do to prevent this.
