Angus is Missing

I have often posted about my lovely ginger boys Archie and Angus. I can't believe I'm typing this but Angus is missing and we are devastated. We last saw him late last night on our bed. He has a cat flap and comes and goes freely as we are pretty rural so hardly any traffic. He hasn't been home for his breakfast and now his dinner. We have been out walking his normal haunts but it's freezing cold, snowy and wet and I just can't believe he would want to stay out.

I've just put something on our local FB page and if he isn't home by tomorrow I will do leaflets etc.

I think I need a handhold 😢 I can't bear it!

Omg! I'm so sorry. Your park are gorgeous. Keeping all our paws crossed here.

TheLongRider · 07/02/2021 19:56

Flowers I'm so sorry, I really hope he comes home soon.

Vinorosso74 · 07/02/2021 20:20

Oh no! I hope he's safely back soon

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/02/2021 20:20

I’m so sorry, have you checked the roads?.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/02/2021 20:20

And all garages and sheds.

HaHaVeryBunny · 07/02/2021 20:32

Stick your leaflets to trees and lamp posts that are beside traffic lights, or on traffic light poles.
People queuing in traffic or waiting to cross the road are a captive audience and will read your missing animal leaflet.
Hope your puss comes up soon x.

*home

Trumplosttheelection · 07/02/2021 20:35

Open all drawers and wardrobes. Our Mia has scared the life out of us three times with disappearing when she was actually asleep in furniture.....

Wolfiefan · 07/02/2021 20:36

Is he chipped? Are your details up to date?
Maybe let local vets and shelters etc know.
Any lost and found groups on FB locally?
Put used litter outside if you have any?
Definitely check garages and sheds etc. Both mine have form for getting locked in. Good luck.

He's home!!

Just spent nearly an hour in a snow blizzard in dark fields with DH and a couple of torches! Then we went round our road calling and listening to see if we could hear him crying. Nothing .....

Then bold as brass he walks back through the catflap! He feels very warm and not at all wet so my guess is he was either in someone's garage/shed and they saw my post on my local FB or he's been in someone's house! He didn't seem at all spooked, which I think he would have been if he had been locked in somewhere as he's quite a nervous cat. I have a slight niggle that it's one of my neighbour's who I know encourages my two into her garden in the summer. She loves cats and I was surprised to hear in the summer that my cats sit with her in her garden and she can stroke them (which again is unusual as they are both so nervous) so she's obviously been spending time with them. I do wonder if she saw my FB post and panicked and sent him home!

Anyway, here's the little bugger getting some roast chicken from his dad who of course wasn't at all worried but was besides himself when he walked in!

Hallelujah! That's such a relief. It may be time to improve neighbourly relations by contacting her.

Vinorosso74 · 07/02/2021 21:13

Phew! I hope Archie is pleased to see him too

Buntysbosom · 07/02/2021 21:22

So pleased Smile although cross on your behalf if someone has had him.
Mine vanished for hours in heavy snow the other week, I spent hours calling and searching, she arrived home warm and dry so I know someone had her in their house. I wish people would get their own cats instead of trying to share other peoples beloved pets!

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/02/2021 21:25

Well he’s home and that’s the main thing.

I wish they’d get their own pets too.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/02/2021 21:29

Oh thank goodness for that!

TroysMammy · 07/02/2021 21:33

I"m so glad he's home. They are the scaredy cats looking at the cat flap you've posted before aren't they?

Icequeen01 · 07/02/2021 21:37

Yes they are @TroysMammy and we still have an uncomfortable truce in the house with little feisty cat 😀

Hurray!

Wolfiefan · 07/02/2021 22:31

I’m so glad he’s home.
Any heated gardening structures nearby? Quiet and peaceful?
We had a visiting ginger who we would cuddle in the garden! He seemed to know we had lost old girl at the time and came daily. Can’t tell you how lovely it was. But he wasn’t my cat. Was clearly loved and soooo well looked after. Cuddles in the garden was the limit. No feeding and he never came in the house.
Sooo glad he’s back. Lovely cats BTW. Such stunners.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/02/2021 22:38

They are just soooo gorgeous. You know when you see identical twins, and you can't get your head round the fact there are two of them. (Or is that just me?!) Thats how I feel when I see these two!

dublingirl66 · 07/02/2021 22:39

Phewwww I'm so glad to see this update

Beautiesssss

Please stay in lovely cats much nicer inside 😍😍

Icequeen01 · 07/02/2021 22:50

No heated structures at all near us @Wolfiefan. Just a few old out houses near the fields but Angus likes his home comforts too much and they would be very cold and damp inside.

I have no problem with my cats going to the neighbour in the summer and being with her in the garden. Like you, she had a very old cat which died. I know she is a cat lover and she does love my boys, but if she is starting to encourage them into her house I wouldn't be happy. It's difficult as I often used to see her out and about but now, with the pandemic and it being winter, I haven't seen her. Otherwise I might have been able to do a subtle "the strangest thing happened with Angus .... " and hope she would get the hint!

Thank you @Toddlerteaplease - the funny thing is I think they look very different. They often look like two bookends the way they just sit next to each other. They both have very different personalities with Archie very rarely going any further than the garden but Angus loving the fields (and possibly my neighbour!).

Chickydoo · 07/02/2021 22:59

Oh that's amazing! I am so thrilled for you.
I have a couple of wanderers & it's hideous when they disappear.
You can sleep well tonight!
