Iris melanoma. Experiences?

Hi All. DCat is going to the vets tomorrow with what I suspect is a melanoma of her iris based on my research.

Does anyone have any experience of a cat with one of these? Did anyone's cat have a dark spot in their eye and it not be a melanoma?

I stupidly googled last night whilst I couldn't sleep and now I'm convinced m going to lose my beautiful cat. Sad

You can see the spot quite clearly in this picture, she also has a dark smudge around the side.

Have you seen the vets yet?.

One of my cats had a large dark spot on her iris and it was completely benign. We use the university vet clinic an she spent a happy hour there with a queue of students lining up for a look at her eye. It was a long time ago and she’s long gone to the rainbow bridge, so I can’t remember if it was a condition with a name, but the eye never bothered her.

Hiya, yes, sorry, didn't realise anyone had responded! It is a melanoma but the vet says it looks benign. I'm to keep an eye on it and if it changes at all, or there looks to be inflammation or the pupil looks an odd shape then I am to o back.

That's reassuring to know, thank you!
