Home invasion

A strange, but beautiful, cat is invading my home and tormenting me and my sweet boy. Cat flap is not microchip enabled so strange cat can gain access with ease. A proper CF too!! Eats any food left out, finds and plays with any cat toys available, and generally enjoying a second home. Resident boy is a stray moggy, invader is a pedigree Maine Coon twice his size, and a bully.

Will be fitting a new cat flap soon, but in the meantime not sure what to do about the posh, and very entitled!!! invader?

Invader is so sweet, so tugs at my heartstrings. Resident boy is warming to the invader and they enjoy playing together, but don’t want to be accused of catnapping 😳!

How do I deter the invader without restricting resident cat’s access to the garden?

Does he have a collar? Is there a local FB Cats Protection page you can ask on? I'm sure his owners would like to know where he is.

Want2beme · 04/02/2021 21:30

My goodness. Where's he come from, I wonder?! Hopefully, he's got a microchip. Ask some neighbours if they know him? Put a paper collar on him with your phone number, so if he has a home they'll call you. Not sure you'll be able to deter him, as we know, cats are notoriously entitled. Your place is his place when he sees fit to visit Grin

Look at it this way - your dcat has let slip he has an amazing dcat slave and cf has come to test the theory..

SassenachWitch · 04/02/2021 21:32

Wow! He’s a beauty!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/02/2021 22:13

That's a very impressive intruder Grin.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 04/02/2021 22:16

Wow, gorgeous!!

mightyminty · 05/02/2021 07:43

The invader is truly impressive!! Has totally won over my Dcat who is usually v territorial. He doesn’t have a normal collar, but does have a gps tracker (must have form for wandering).

So ‘posh intruder’ back again today. Am WFH at the moment and was disturbed by a thunderous ruckus of dcat and intruder chasing each other round and fighting (not much noise) so assuming play fighting more than real aggression. Chucked intruder out, but keeps coming back in. He’s being tracked so his owners must know that he hangs out here all the time but I’m worried they might think I’m encouraging him!! ... and I’m not, the main attraction seems to be having a play date with my dcat. I think I might need to lock the cat flap, but can’t be on door duty all day and work at the same time ... dilemma...

Can you attach a note to his tracker, they can ring you and you can tell them he keeps coming in, they might be quite happy and ask for a photo.,

OMG! That is one beautiful cat. I agree with PP, put a note on its tracker or buy a paper collar. I think as long as you don’t feed the cat, you shouldn’t have any problem with it visiting you and your DC.

Ellmau · 06/02/2021 12:57

He's gorgeous. Good to see he and yourDCat are now friends.

mightyminty · 11/02/2021 22:03

The handsome invader is now a frequent visitor!! He bullies his way in, scarfs any food left out by my little boy, and is now demanding playtime and attention from me!!

His GPS tracker now has his name (he's a he!) and a mobile number and I feel I should send a text to his owners ... but what do I say?? My boy and him get on okay, although due to the size difference my dcat tends to gets bullied.

Intruder is being GPS tracked and I'm not encouraging him ... but quite often have to chuck him out in the evening so he goes home!

I would be so upset if my cat spent more time elsewhere so I'm assuming his family is too, but I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

I'd definitely text. I'd want to know where my cat is.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/02/2021 10:00

I’d text and fit a microchip cat flap. If they’re tracking him using GPS I’m going to assume he’s got form for this.

They’ve probably got young kids/dogs and the cats interviewing for new owners.

EachandEveryone · 13/02/2021 06:54

They might be glad just worried it’s putting you out. It’s not like he’s having sleep overs maybe make a joke of it.
