Cat has tumor on his back

Has anyone any experience of having a cat with a tumor on her back? Told by the vet that it is cancer and will be difficult to remove it all. She is happy in herself and eating and grooming but this tumor looks big and I just don't know what to do for the best. She is 8.

Offering you a handhold, @Robingtonbyford ☕️💐

We had this with our lovely cat years ago. When the tumour first appeared the vet operated to remove as much of it as they could. That gave her another year or so until it grew back and was inoperable as it was growing round her spine. Like your girl, she was happy - eating, grooming etc, and she’d never been a very active cat so it wasn’t limiting her daily life. Eventually we made the difficult decision to have her put to sleep, but only once she started showing signs of it affecting her quality of life.

Has the vet said they could operate to remove most of the tumour? I guess it depends on the position, but it’s worth considering 🤞🏻💐

Thank you for your message. The vet said it looks very attached to the spine if that makes sense.

Similar to Staywithme. My old cat had a tumour on the back of his neck that when the vet removed he said it was like an iceberg. It grew back after 6 months and got removed again but he said wouldn't operate again

Thee Ed third one did grow back quickly and when it started to affect his motion we had to put to sleep

Sounds like they maybe can’t operate then 😕 It’s such a responsibility having their life in your hands isn’t it, but make the most of the quality time you have left with her 😻 You’ll know when it’s time to let her go 💐
