I've been feeding a stray for about 2 years.. he was skeletal, and very skittish and only after he had an injury (think he may have been hit by a car as he limped for weeks) followed by an abscess , was I able to catch him and take him to the vets, where he was checked for a chip (none) and patched up. I also got him neutered, figuring it would improve his fight wounds...
He wouldn't come in so we built him a hutch where he has slept most nights. Gradually he started coming just inside the front door for food, hitting the dog, and leaving!

Then three nights ago... he came in, came into the living room, jumped on the sofa and curled up.
He's currently snoring beside me!!! Has only left the house to go to the loo, straight back in on the sofa. He's a bit of a git.. three strokes and then bites, but he's purring when touched, butting against me and I think he's decided that inside is finally safe!

The poor dog is less than impressed as she's scared of him (she's fine with Ophie, and of course Obie lives with Thelma down the road) but I guess she'll adjust in time.

We have to name him properly... since he's been fed he has got quite porky but I can't keep calling him Fatso!

I think we have been adopted...

If he’s a fighter I’d call him Ninja

violetbunny · 26/01/2021 08:20

Ahhhh thank you for looking after him. My cats are chipped and wear a collar with a tag, but it makes me feel a lot better that if one of them were ever to go missing again that there are people like you in the world, OP.

Thanks for story.

? "Champ" -- because he's had a tough time and overcame the odds.

RJnomore1 · 26/01/2021 08:34

He is called Wilcox

Don’t ask me why he just is!

Delighted to read this. Got to love a cat who moves in with you Grin

My completely random name suggestion for him is 'Fletcher'.
