Dot on nose? (With picture)

Boy cat has always had a little dot on his nose, but recently it's been getting bigger. Happy as Larry otherwise.

He's only just turned 2. Is this a usual ginger cat phenomenon?

Luckily these was a bird outside when I took this so he sat nice and still.

His little pink nose is more susceptible to sun damage. Keep an eye on it and if it keeps growing, have it checked by his vet. Could be that it's just a mark of time. Happens to us allConfused . He's a beautiful boySmile

Ginger cats are very prone to nose freckles (I have two gingers myself). I think it is called lentingo. Could it be that?

JorisBonson · 17/01/2021 22:06

@Icequeen01 just googled and I think that's it! He's due jabs soon so I'll get the vet to have a peep anyway.

My first ever ginger and, weirdly, my first ever pink nosed cat - I'm usually a sucker for black ones.

@JorisBonson Definitely worth checking with your vet when you see him. I remember I had a conversation with my vet when I first noticed some on my cats. I swear some of the freckles disappear and a new one appears in a different place. I think you can enlarge this photo you can just see one on my cats nose.

Thank you @JorisBonson We have his brother too who is almost identical.

JorisBonson · 05/02/2021 11:12

Update - it was a bit of sap or tar or something that got dirt in it and spread over his nose 🤦🏻‍♀️

The vet also commented on how grubby his feet are (he digs ALL DAY LONG).

I can't believe I have such a mucky child.

😀😀 that's so funny. So pleased it wasn't anything serious. It must be something about gingers and digging. The brother of the cat I posted a photo of previously loves to dig in bonfires. No idea why. This is the state of his paws once when he came home!

I love cats with nose freckles! My ginger has the faintest ones but depending what he's doing, his nose changes colour so they're not easy to see. He has wee freckled along the edges of his lips.

Icequeen01 · 06/02/2021 00:00

@Plump82 my cats have them on their lips too. One of them also has them on the inside of his lower eye lids. I always thought that the freckles on their noses moved as they often seem to be in different places.

We adore our ginger boys, even our DS21 will walk in the door and one of the first things he will say is where are the cats!

Toddlerteaplease · 06/02/2021 02:57

Really not check Cheddar for freckles. Grin

JorisBonson · 06/02/2021 07:25

So do I @Icequeen01, but this was just dirt 😂
