My husband and I have both given our cat her dose of Thyronorm/Thiamazole this evening! Is this an emergency that requires a call to the out of hours vet?

It will be fine. But I am some random on t’internet.

If you want advice call animal poisonline. Think it’s about £30, but if your cat needs treatment the vet refunds it.

Or call the vet, but bear in mind some will get the cat in anyway for emetics etc “just in case”, especially if you have insurance Hmm

Not all, of course, but it does happen.

Is there a data sheet in the box you can refer to? It should mention it on there.

It's fine as a once off - if you check the data sheet they talk about toxic doses of 30mg (and that's given long term).

As an aside, most vets won't refund you if you ring poison line - I work at a vets and we aren't signed up to it. However they often can tell you over the phone if you need to be worried or not. They won't make your cat sick without good reason - that's against the code of ethics. Also it's not always easy to make cats sick!
