Lump at vaccination site

Can anyone reassure me that this is normal? Noticed a lump today at vaccination site, a week after our new cat had her vaccinations. We got her off a friend of a friend who was rehoming and she hadn't been vaccinated for a couple of years so the vet started from scratch again. She's only 3. I had a Google but that's worried me and I'm hoping it's just bloody Google doing the absolute worst possible conclusion thing that it normally does. The lump is about the size of a kidney bean I think.
Worst thing is we've not got insurance yet as I was under the impression that she had to be fully vaccinated before we bought it. I'm not sure if that's right though?

Mine had this a couple of years ago, spoke to her vet and they said it was common and nothing to worry about. Can't remember how long it lasted for but it did go away.

If you're worried, always worth a call to the vet but it's definitely a thing that can happen after vacs

Just keep an eye on it. They usually go down quite quickly, but one of my previous cats had to have a similar lump surgically removed (fortunately when tested it wasn't carcinogenic and it didn't reoccur.)

Both of my kittens had it for about three weeks. Vet said was normal too

Completely normal...I nearly had a heart attack when one of my cats had this, but spoke to a friend who is a senior vet nurse and she reassured me it's not at all uncommon.

I think it was a month or so before it completely disappeared.

My previous cat had a bump as well once. Another time, she got an injection that the doctor didn’t do well and she had a crust for weeks. After a couple of weeks, she tore off the crust with quite a bit of hair. It looked quite scary.

Thank you all, thats very reassuring! Bloody Google worrying me again...

@Mia184 that does look pretty scary! No sign of a crust thankfully.

Yes Colin had one after his first vaccination though we (DS) dint notice it till he was to have the second

Vet said it wasn't unusual but but his second one in a different place so we could monitor it.

So I would just mention it to your vet

MoonshineWashingLine · 14/01/2021 09:32

Thanks @Oldraver. I will definitely mention it.
