Our cat has half a tail after an accident a while ago.
She later started leaving bits if 'poo balls' around the house, we took her to the vet and she said it was probably linked to the injury and something we may have to live with. The last couple of weeks she's now started passing large amounts a fecal liquid while she sleeps. It's an absolute nightmare especially as she refuses to sleep on a bed and often hides under beds or in wardrobes to sleep as we have a active toddler downstairs she wants some quiet understandable. Anyway this sleeping and pooing is a nightmare now and we want to know if anyone had similar which was successfully treated. I didn't want to put her throughout surgery but feel we may have to try, she's quite young and otherwise healthy

It sounds like 2 separate issues.

  1. She has some sphincter weakness from the accident
  1. She has diarrhoea.

She shouldn't have liquid poo in her rectum so there shouldn't be any liquid to leak out. You need to address the cause of the diarrhoea - dietary, parasites, enteritis etc.

Once her stools firm up again she may still drop 'nuggets' as a the nerve damage is likely permanent but the liquid leaking should be treatable.

Hope her health improves soon.

Thank you both and yes that makes sense. Shes wormed and no food changes, were in the middle of a house move and do wonder whether she's stressed perhaps but I'm gonna call the vet today and hope we can sort her out, poor girl

Theres lots of food on the market for cats with digestion issues. My cat ate Purina ID which worked wonders on her.

Probiotic paste works well for my cat who has inflammatory bowel disease, we use it daily and it works as a preventative. Also hypoallergenic food. Definitely see the vet to check the bowel issues.
