Cat missing since last week - devastated

Hi everyone. Just posting on here for some moral support and hopeful stories anyone can provide. Our lovely little 12 year old boy cat Denzel has been awol since last Tuesday 22nd, we are now on the 8th day of him being gone. It's been a pretty rough week over Christmas, and I can't bear the thought that we might never see him again.

It's really out of character for him to go for this long - he is usually an 'out and back in within an hour' kind of cat, so I presume something has happened to either scare him or stop him from coming back like being trapped somewhere. On the evening he was let out, my parents' neighbours had some tree surgeons over with awood chipper, which I'm guessing scared him into running away or hiding somewhere unusual. Knowing that gives me some hope that he is nearby (as opposed to hurt) but given it's been so long now I just don't understand whats happened to him. He's notmuch of a hunter, and I'm terrified about how he is coping with the -2C temperatures at the moment.

We have been leafletting all the surrounding houses and beyond since Christmas eve, have told local vets, rescue centres, and done the social media stuff. My mum went to respond to the only call we have had two days ago, which was about a similar looking cat having been run over a couple miles away in town. Luckiy it wasn't him, although still obviousy extremely upsetting knowing that someones cat was killed by a car Sad.

Just looking for some good stories and any tips people might have that heped them get their puss-cats back, especially in winter!

So sorry to hear this. Its just awful. One of my old cats was in a garage and we got them back a week later. Have you walked down the street later at night seeing if you can hear any meows. Xx

Thanks for the support and the tip @Nonamesavail. Wil try that.

The difficulty we are having is that I am currently in London in Tier 4 (and have been since before he went missing), whilst my parents who live with our family cats who I grew up with, live in Tier 2, which is where Denzel went missing from. So I'm also struggling with not being able to help with searching for him at the moment and feel so useless apart from posting on social media. I will definitely suggest my mum goes out when its really quiet and tries to have a listen out now that its been a week in case he is piping up a bit now.

Hi Amboo
I really for you, it's awful.when our cats go missing.
Mine does it all the time, but he is a rescued street cat and is normal for him. He's been out for 2 days and nights now, but he's used to it.
My other cats have always come back even after a few days.Try to hold onto that.
I hope you find him soon.

Thanks for the support. It's getting tough now as my mum has sort of assumed he's dead already 😢 it's only been 10 days and I'm not ready to think that yet, it's just hard for them as there's been literally no sign of him, no potential sightings or anything 😔
