Mud

I have posted previously about my accident prone and always injured boy before. Friday evening he came in absolutely caked in mud from head to toe. We have tried brushing, cat grooming wipes, water and a flannel but he is just not happy being touched like this, he growls and struggles to escape. I cannot find any injuries but obviously that does not mean there are none.
I was contemplating a bath but he's 6kg of muscle, a free spirited rescue who likes affection on his terms and I can see it ending in disaster. Does anyone bathe their cats, any tips? Would a cat groomer be able to help or should I simple contact the vets to sedate him and clean him up.
I am worried about him and just want to make him feel better.

A cat groomer may be able to help. But I doubt you'll be able to get in at such short notice. And not all groomers bath them. Mine does. Vet nurses are your best bet. I had to bath my very docile Persian a few weeks ago after a poonami. Trying to control a wriggling feline who doesn't want to be bathed was not easy. And that was without hissing and spitting.

I used to bathe my cats regularly, but it did take two of us!

Your cat might be like one I had years ago. He'd make a big fuss, trying to hold on to the walls, etc then once in he'd just sit there in total misery but without making any attempt to get out!

@AlwaysLatte that's what Magic is like at the groomers. I suspect she secretly quite likes it but won't admit it.

Thanks everyone I think the vets is the way to go, will be on the phone first thing in the morning.

My cat came home covered in thick black engine oil, he's a white cat so you can imagine the shock.I rang the vet they took him in and gave him a proper bath.He looked very fluffy afterwards😃.
I think the vet is the only way to go.
My cat is also a rescued street cat and 5.5kilos of pure muscle.

@Clarich007 I feel your pain. He looks a lot better than this now but I will definitely call the vet in the morning

Magic is a sweetie! Not impressed with the bath but perhaps the attention is worth it!
