Crying for wet food - tooth trouble

12 year old cat who has always loved all food is leaving his dry food and miaowing for more soft food. Has built up over the last week.

I will call vet tomorrow but has anyone experienced this? I suspect it may be tooth ache or a problem with his teeth. Does anyone have any advice please?

It’s possible, if it is teeth it can’t wait.

Well no. That's why I'm calling in the morning.

Has he ever had a dental?.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/12/2020 21:52

Yes - about 4/5 months ago. Dentist thought a tooth needed to come out but was OK when she gave him a scale. He had lost a molar on the other side though - we didn't know. An Xray showed no issues and nothing of it retained.

He has always had an annual check up. He has arthritis and is on metacam and has annual bloods, etc.

What did the vet say? I hope it’s nothing serious & he will be okay op.

Apt is 5pm Monday. Will provide an update.

I hope he's ok, that's how we knew Harry needed another dental in the summer.

Vet couldn't see anything of concern but he started hissing and she couldn't get far. Felt he was in very good condition and the best way to proceed was to sedate him when he has his bloods in Feb to check all is well with metacam, and to have a good look then.
