Does this injury need a vet visit?

Somehow we've managed to get 2.5 years in to cat ownership with no illnesses or injuries.. till today! Sounds of a cat fight last night and just noticed Maximus has a scratch above his eye. It looks slightly swollen and his eye is a bit pussy. Does it just need salty water or is it a vet visit?
Thanks all.

Yes that’s a vet visit, eyes are soft and deteriorate quickly.

Yeah, cat fight injuries often need antibiotics so you'll need to go.

SoupDragon · 16/12/2020 13:52

I do like th two looks though - one oh-so-proud of his injury and the other completely sheepish 😂 did you tell him off inbetween the two?

miccoops · 16/12/2020 14:37

I would get him checked to be on the safe side. My cat has needed antibiotics a few times over the years after fighting.

Thanks everyone, he's going in tomorrow. SoupDragon he's definitely sheepish, and also now scared to go out, the big bruiser!

Vets definitely because it's to do with his eyes. X

Yes. One of mine had an abscess on her cheek as on further investigation it turned out she'd also punctured her eyeball. Fortunately it healed well.
