I need your best kitten-exhausting strategies

Scared no longer, one month in, the kitten is fully in charge. Slightly subdued after neutering last week, in the last few days she has made it clear she is Fully Better And Ready To Play.

At midnight. For hours. Agh. I was scared to look at what she was killing under my bed last night - from the noise I was fully expecting perhaps a buffalo or a wolverine. It turned out one of my slippers was evil and must be punished Grin

So, for the sake of my sanity and my sleep, what are your best games and toys for attempting to exhaust a seven month old fluff ball? We play regularly through the day, I'm home with her all the time. I've just done an extra half hour of chucking her favourite toy around the place for her to retrieve. What else can I use / delude myself that might work?!

(Obligatory picture attached)

A feline friend??

MyTwoBengals · 03/12/2020 20:55

You need another kitten Grin

Mumdiva99 · 03/12/2020 20:55

I have a ball and feathers on a stick on of mine loves. She will chase it for ages.

Do you let yours out at all? Will you? One of mine is gagging to go out - we allow her supervised garden trips which she loves.

MutteringDarkly · 03/12/2020 20:56

She came from a home where she did not cope being around other cats at all. So sadly, not a way forward but I like your style Grin

Running up and down stairs tires the little terrors out. She’s beautiful.

RandomMess · 03/12/2020 21:06

Little silver balls of foil flicked around.

We have always shut ours in another room far far far away, not sure if they did but I slept!

giantangryrooster · 03/12/2020 21:19

Ah she is lovely. Another one voting for a companion. Otherwise hard squeezed tin foil balls (not hat shaped) not too small, it's a cheap and fun toy, table tennis balls if she is not afraid of the sound it makes or finally a scratching 'barrel'.

Little silver balls of foil flicked around.

Arrh sorry.

Ellmau · 03/12/2020 21:39

She is so gorgeous!

Bargebill19 · 03/12/2020 22:20

Ear plugs. Better still, a pillow over your head so she/they can bounce on it.

Blubbergalore · 03/12/2020 22:25

A laser pen up and down the stairs

MutteringDarkly · 04/12/2020 07:40

Right, foil balls and ear plugs, must not get those mixed up. And accepting the inevitable Grin

There's a glimmer of hope of less noise in a couple of days when she can take her post-surgery jacket off. Although once free, I would assume her vengeance will be mighty...

Laser pen all the way.

IsFinnRogersDead · 04/12/2020 08:32

Ping pong balls.
Pipe cleaners.
A nemesis other cat.

RandomMess · 04/12/2020 08:40

Forgot about laser pens they are fab.

Allergictoironing · 04/12/2020 10:00

Seconding laser pens. And fishing pole type toys, mine like the ones with big feathers on the end best.

MutteringDarkly · 04/12/2020 14:29

How did I not think of laser pens?! Thank you!

little treats in an open empty egg carton ... they spend forever trying to get them out! however once they have cracked it they have cracked it for good and you will have to think of ever more inventive treat mazes :)

StrippedFridge · 04/12/2020 17:28

Pompoms.

Boxes with holes.

Crinkly paper.

Goldfish and hamsters don't name them

Lillagroda · 04/12/2020 17:32

I second ping pong balls, would add to chuck a few in the (empty) bathtub.

Paranoidmarvin · 04/12/2020 18:19

This makes me happy that my cat was older when I got it Grin

AwkwardPaws27 · 04/12/2020 18:25

I'm scouring this thread for ideas as my kitten (well, 8 months - teenager?) is a prize arsehole who tries to sit on my head. He just scaled me, again, claws out. Ouch.
Photo from last month when he was being cute instead.

I refuse to believe there’s a time he isn’t cute.

MutteringDarkly · 04/12/2020 18:30

Aw that face! Gorgeous!

Mazes you say? Righto.
