Any Maine Coon owners?

I'd like a Maine Coon, not yet but in the future. I'm at the research stage. I've always had cats (Siamese/oriental or Bengals). I have 2 at the moment but one is rather neurotic sensitive and it would be unfair to upset her.

Please can you tell me all the good and bad points of being a Maine Coon slave.

Can be destructive

Eat vast quantities of good food.

Need grooming

Are just flipping lovely

Anyone care to share their experiences?(obviously pics are a must )

My DH likes these, we don’t have one.
The one thing that stood out for me are their health issues, particularly heart problems.
Personally, I’d think about a Norwegian or Siberian forest cat instead as I’ve heard they are much healthier and look very similar, imo anyway!
