We are picking up our new cat tomorrow, I have litter+ box , some treats, catnip, a bed, toys, bowl, fountain. I’ve ordered cat tree and scratching post, anything else? Food is provided, then we can pick the same type.

Wow good luck.... remember to post a photo

Allergictoironing · 14/11/2020 22:10

Ooh exciting. Remember to keep any large cardboard boxes stuff like the tree & scratching post come in - will go down just as well with the cat as the contents! Grin

Oh, and don't forget you'll need to pay the Litter Tray toll - pics!

Do think about insurence, and consider a vet plan where visits and treatment usually work out cheaper.
Please post a photo asap.
You lucky person.

Oh wow, she’s a stunner isn’t she?. Not a fan of having her stomach groomed going by the curly tum either.

Skippii · 15/11/2020 09:33

Yes, I need to order some brushes. Any recommendations for long fur brushes?

OP posts:
chocolatespiders · 15/11/2020 09:49

I have three different brushes for my long hair cat
One is a tangle teeser type think it was from the dog section in pets at home.
www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/pet-teezer-detangling-dog-grooming-brush-small

One is a zoom groom

And one is KW smart slicker brush.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2020 10:20

Tangle teaser for daily brushing. And a metal comb for more through brushing. I do t find zoom grooms work on my Persians, and furminators only take off the top coat and not the undercoat.
Mine have a professional groom every 3 months or so. And I highly recommend you to get a hygiene trim!! Vet nurses will do it.

WitchesSpelleas · 15/11/2020 10:24

Wow! What an incredible coat.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/11/2020 10:49

💖💖💖💖💖💖. She's gorgeous. Is she a Main Coone.

Skippii · 15/11/2020 11:04

Yes, she's a Maine Coon, so double coat to deal with.

chocolatespiders · 15/11/2020 11:09

What a beaut is she a rescue?

I agree zoom groom works better on short hair cats.
My long haired sheds less than short haired which surprised me.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/11/2020 11:11

That's a magnificent cat OP.

Grey cats are best hoping my three black cats aren't reading this

Ellmau · 15/11/2020 16:16

She's a beauty!

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2020 16:55

Yes I was surprised about the lack of long haired shedding. Snorg can sit on me when I'm wearing white trousers and it's not a problem.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2020 16:56

Be very careful with the diet if she's a bit sensitive. Long hair and diarrhoea are not a good combination! I speak from messy experience!

Skippii · 16/11/2020 19:40

She is so friendly, you would think she had been here for years. We are working on brushing, some but not all tummy has been possible today.

Photos of her on the sofa next to me

Make sure she gets lots of play and exercise. It’s a great way to bond with a new cat and cats love to play. She’s gorgeous!

Toilenstripes · 16/11/2020 19:47

What’s her name?

Skippii · 16/11/2020 19:56

I'm off work for a couple of days, so it's non stop playing and interaction (between ordering more stuff for her).

Her name is Misty, I'd like to change it to Skye, but... She comes when called, so maybe next week 🤣

BabbleBee · 16/11/2020 19:59

I have a glove brush which is brilliant and works well on the areas where brushes / combs aren’t permitted

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2020 12:21

She looks very happy!
