My cat is actually driving me insane

My cat is driving me mad. This is not even light-hearted, I am really struggling with her.

She whines and whines and whines and whines constantly. She is so loud all of the time. It's not hunger or anything like that, I've even asked the vet about it in case there is something wrong but she is just vocal apparently. She is never quiet for long unless she's napping which is usually in the day and not at night.

It's stopping me from sleeping as ridiculous as it sounds. I cannot sleep in the same room as her anymore but if I shut her out she will scratch at the door and whine all night and regularly smashes things.

I've had enough. I don't even enjoy having her anymore because of it and I feel horrible for saying that but it's true, I wish I didn't have her.

She is so loud and it's constant. I'm losing my mind with it.

What do I do 😭

Overnight I would be locking her in a room where she can't be destructive and ignoring her tbh. There's no way I'd tolerate a cat pulling curtains down and smashing things all over my floor every night

This. And all Vanillaandhoney said.

I'd probably put her out and not let her back in for a few hours - put some water out for her and don't give her the choice.

Are you sure she's not scared of something? My Burmese was fab and happy and then in a different house he yowled non stop. I found some neighbourhood cats had been hanging up on him. So we moved! (Not just because of that, but it was a factor). And in the next house he was super happy and quiet again.

Cats often yowl to tell you they're unhappy. In pain or scared or hungry. Something is intolerable to them.

i’m going insane. i have a 6 month old cat who is driving me up the wall. she doesn’t listen at ALL. i have resorted to yelling and throwing things in her direction to spook her from doing things over and over. she gets on my vanity and knocks all of my jewelry off the tray, won’t stop messing with the christmas tree, scratching my furniture, biting us repeatedly even when we’re being gentle and sweet, howling at night, not letting us fall asleep because she’s walking all over our faces, licking us, and MORE. i’ve tried so many methods and some days i consider bringing her to a shelter. i love cats and she is my second. my first cat is calm as can be, never bites or scratches, and always listens. i’m pulling my hair out over this one. my throat is hoarse from yelling so much. i’ve had to resort to kenneling her for a little bit of peace. she has been like this from pretty much day one and i’m just at a loss. i can’t do it much longer. she’s a straight up b*tch and i don’t know what to do.

Try the cat calmer someone recommended. My cat is extremely loud often. It drives me crazy but I’d never give her away. In my opinion dogs are easier. Put a shirt with your scent on it. Or try classical music. Don’t give in when she cries. Wait until she’s quiet. It may help. I have bad allergies and kept my cat. They are a huge responsibility as they live very long lives and don’t travel well. You notice most people prefer dogs. There’s a reason. Also use ear plugs.
