Flea spot on anguish

Hello lovely people of the litter tray. I posted recently about my threshold cat who is still loving the cold hard doorways.
However I need advice on the flea spot on. I get a pack from my vet and it covers fleas and some worms.
Thing is he hates it and I feel like it must be harming him in some way as he blinks continually like I have sprayed him in the face and then dashes around the house in distress. Looks like he’s trying to rid himself of it. Eventually he calms down and I can never see any sore bit or anything.
Can anyone impart any reassurance or advice. It seems worse suddenly surely it just feels cold and maybe smells a bit funny.
I always do the back of the neck as advised.
Thanks

My previous cat absolutely hated the spot on stuff. He used to his and run away when he spotted the little vial in my hand. Current cats don't seem to mind - they're on a different one though I think - Stronghold Plus when previously we had Advocate.

He used to hiss

One of my cats (Sybil) reacts in a very similar way - she also senses when I'm going to flea treat her even before I've broken the seal on the vial!
I wouldn't worry as long as your cat calms down again reasonably quickly afterwards.

My cats run around the house after their one, they have advocate and the youngest cat is the same when she sees the vial, but I just think 10 mins of unpleasantness is better than fleas which we have had before and that really Wasn’t pleasant.

I used to warm it up in my bra but he’d still act like it was attempted murder & squirm while I muttered don’t shake at him.

Obviously small vials of liquid are a well known cause of cat fatalities.

2 cats here . One doesnt mind shes not fussed but my boy does mind and makes a big song and dance about it. 2 dogs also again ones fine with one not. Think it just depends on the animal. But rather that than fleas

Right well that’s reassuring thanks that no one has any evidence or some brands hurting their skin or anything. It’s definitely worth it he won’t want fleas biting him I just feel rotten.
He curled up in the washing bin that I was in the process of working through in protest so now I can’t get my washing done Grin
