Cat has lump on tail - so worried

I was stroking my lovely rescue cat earlier and felt a lump about halfway up her tail. It isn’t visible as it’s underneath her fur, but I could clearly feel it when stroking her. The lump is probably about 0.5cm long and is firm and hard. When I pressed on it she flinched and mewed.

I’m obviously going out of my mind with worry and will call the vet first thing tomorrow, but in the meantime, does anyone have any idea what it could be? She’s only three years old and seems perfectly fine and happy within herself. Thank you

Bite wound off another cat?.

Tail fracture?

catowner8 · 01/11/2020 21:49

I don’t think it’s a fracture as there are a lot of other symptoms that come with that, according to Google - and she’s perfectly happy, purring away on the sofa next to me. She’s also holding and using her tail completely normally.

I’m not sure it’s a bite either, as wouldn’t there be missing fur or blood if that was the case?

Really hope she’s ok Sad

Could be an old injury,

catowner8 · 01/11/2020 22:03

I’m just afraid that worst case scenario it could be a tumour or cancer. I can’t lose my beautiful girl Sad

Even if it were a tumour, tail amputation is fairly common and they do ok. I'm sure she will keep on going.

My cat had this and it was a cat bite - anti biotics sorted it
