Metacam - forgot to shake bottle

My cat is at the end of a short course of Metacam and tonight was her last dose. I have been incredibly stupid as I realised after dosing her that I forgot to shake the bottle and as such may have given her an accidental overdose 😦

She seems ok at the moment, a bit sleepy perhaps. The vets are now on out of hours until the morning otherwise would have called for advice.

Any thoughts on what to look out for? So worried I may have accidentally poisoned my poor baby

Call your vet's out of hours provider for advice. Their number should be on an answer phone if you call your vet.

Sorry should have said, if you've used the dosing syringe correctly to the right volume for your cat's weight, you are very unlikely to overdose her.

Me neither, and my boy has it almost every day.

Try not to fret, I've forgotten to shake the bottle in the past too. I'm sure she'll be fine.

Hi I don't understand why not shaking the bottle would make any difference.My lad had Metacam for months, so I got used to giving it to him.I did shake the bottle but thats nothing to do with the correct dosage surely.
I hope she's ok.

If you never shake the bottle the suspension containing the medicine can settle and become concentrated at the bottom. If you only forget to shake it occasionally, though, it shouldn't make much difference.

Quick update, cat is ok. Bit of a nervous night worrying about her, but all seems ok.
