Has anybody bought a felt cat cave? Any tips?

We are planning a house move with a very nervous and highly-strung Bengal cat. I'm liking the look of those new wool/felt cat caves as a warm and welcoming hiding place. Has anybody bought one? Any good?

We are going from a big house to a tiny house and will have to keep her inside for a month at least so I'm desperate for anything that makes her feel a bit less freaked out.

Our v. shy rescue cat lived in his expensive Petface igloo for the first couple of weeks after we brought it home. Once he'd settled in, though, he ignored it and it's sat empty for the last two years. So I wouldn't spend too much on a premium product. Whatever you get, introduce it in your existing house so it will be a familiar thing by the time you move.

Hope your move goes well!

Oh, and a Feliway diffuser may help him feel less nervous in the new house. I've used them when introducing a new cat to an existing cat with a notable calming effect on both.

Her, sorry, not him!

Those marshmallow beds come highly recommended.

The terribly nice Helpful Vancouver Vet on YouTube has just released a video on this topic as he is moving himself. He's basically in favour of drugging them up on Feliway and gabapentin, but he does have a few more tips too.

I ordered one over the weekend. Really hope my old girl likes it

Does she like climbing? Many cats feel secure high up. Maybe you could arrange furniture in such a way that she can get on top of a wardrobe etc 😁

Or look into installing a series of cat shelves or a cat tree Smile

Mixed results with my very nervous rescue cats

Cat 1 is very happy with hers and sleeps there quite a lot

Cat 2 went nowhere near - it's our beds or nothing Grin

Mine have 3 beds. A big fluffy one and the two pictured. One kitten sometimes uses the first one (which i think is like.you are asking about.) It is used sporadically. Last week she went in a few times in the afternoon. The other one, as you can see from the picture, they sleep on top of during the night. (Why would they do that?).
The beds upstairs are preferred when they can get there.
