How did you introduce new cat?

Would love to hear please.

All the official advice is to put new cat in their own room etc.

But then actual cat owners I know haven't done so at all and say that just drags out the process.

We're considering a new cat to keep our older boy company since he lost his brother a few months ago.

He's pretty chilled and very good motivated. Think maybe I'm either having naive daydreams of bringing a carrier in, him giving it a sniff and then them being best buddies. Or the exact opposite and I'm imagining horrific blood shed and months of my home being divided.

Put her basket down in the hall. Other cat came to investigate and visibly relaxed. (Don't think she liked being an only) and that was that. But I've had short term lodgers in the house with no issues before so knew she'd be fine.

Gosh. See that's the dream.

Older boy hasn't ever been an only cat (until recently)

And I'll make sure to adopt a youngster who is also used to others.

Guess that's the best we can do.

Brought the three kittens into the boat, released them and older cats sniffed, hissed and that was it. I had tried to swap scents on blankets ... but looking back I don’t think that did anything whatsoever.
We did use the calm drops from pets at home on our older female.
Here’s proof.
