Help. Is this normal?

I am a new cat owner, got a 9.5 month old castrated male cat a week ago from RSPCA. When we got him he was sneezing a bit but otherwise happy. He went back for his second lot of jabs on Thursday. On Saturday there was a trail of green snot from one nostril but he isn’t sneezing any more. I was going to call the vet today but there was no sign of more snot so I thought it was overkill.

However, I have been thinking about it and I’m wondering whether the slightly crusty black-red stuff he has around his nostrils is just normal for cats or if it’s a sign of something I should worry about. I did have cats when I was a kid so don’t really know this kind of stuff.

I’ve decided I’m going to ring the vet tomorrow and ask them about everything since we have only had him a week but it would be good to know if they are likely to laugh at how ridiculous I’m being or if this is in fact not normal.

Sorry that was long. Hope it makes sense!

Sorry that should say I had cats when I was a kid but don’t really know this stuff (because I was just a child)

One of mine always seems to have a crusty nose, he's otherwise healthy. If your boy has been sick recently it may just be the last of the discharge clearing up (IANAV). No harm in phoning to ask the vet.

Might be cat acne.

Lovely chap though.

Thank you! I am going to give the vet a ring later this morning.
