...do they ‘talk’ to each other?

I keep reading that cats only meow to humans so that we can continue to serve them, but one of my cats was definitely calling the other one this morning. She had come in and I hadn’t seen the little one for a while so I went out to call her and the bigger one followed me out and echoed my calls until she came in. I think the motivation was the treat she knew she’d get for coming in rather than a genuine concern for the other cat but still Grin

@NancyBotwinBloom

Agreed - spent £70 on cat food, cat treat and cat litter last week and it only lasted a fortnight 🥺

I suggest having them, but bill your sister for their board and lodgings. (No i am definitely not an enabler🤥)

Be careful looking online for cat breeders, especially if you’ve had a few 🍷, Nancy!
Did you hear about that French couple who thought they’d bought a Savannah but it actually turned out to be a tiger cub? Shock

@QueenOllie he’s saying thank you, what a polite boy!

My little one is lying at my feet looking exhausted after walking over my head at 5:20am to tell me it was breakfast time Hmm

I have 4 and they don't meow at each other, only at me. My little girlie diva will hiss and growl at her brothers when they're doing her head in though.

lljkk · 10/10/2020 08:31

No don't talk, cat 1 hates cat 2 , mind.

AnnaMagnani · 10/10/2020 10:42

Only if you count hissing and the occasional thump.

However cat 2 does appear to be upset if cat 1 is missing. Possibly because cat 1 is the source of extra food that cat 2 scrounges.

Cat 2 talks incessantly to us. Cat 1 only for something v important 'I want soup' otherwise she just sits and glares and we have to guess.

Mine are siblings and never talk to each other. However, we think there is some kind of planning! Dreamies time is 10 pm. They both appear around 9 pm, and position themselves in direct line of our sight and stare at us, until we cannot take anymore... and get out the Dreamies!

Also, if I am stroking DSis cat on a bed and DBro comes along, he just gives her a filthy look and she scarpers!

I have six, they definitely talk to each other, one especially shouts loudly if he can't see his buddy, they use lots of 'prrrows' to each other too. I lost an ex feral housecat for several months, he spent three days following the others and miaowing at them when we finally got him back, the relief at being back in the gang was obvious.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/10/2020 17:51

They don’t talk to each other, one yells at the fox to sod off. One is very loud to me and announces when she has killed something, the other one just stares

wonderstuff · 13/10/2020 17:52

One of mine used to meow for the other one if she wasn't around. I think he's expecting us to find her rather than calling for her. He doesn't like being on his own. They groom each other and then kick each other in the head. Seems like a classic sibling relationship really.
