Cat Dental.

How much did you pay for a cat dental please?
One puss definitely needs a scale and polish minimally and the goofy one needs a clean.
My normal vet does it but prices are ambiguous so despite having pet club 10% discount I'm wondering if it would be considerably cheaper to shop around.

Dental appear expensive, but they take a lot of time anything from 1 -3 hours depending on how much work is needed. Plus the equipment is expensive so we have building in those costs ( we bought a new dental machine a couple of months ago it was £6000). Cats are tricky to estimate as under the tartar there can be feline oral neck lesions on the teeth which means that tooth has to be removed.

Goofy will definitely need sedation but the other may not (she lets you do anything) I'm wary of the anaesthetic and the price getting crazy.

We had a rotten tooth removal for around £450 iirc

@TheQueef pets always need a full general anaesthetic is neither safe nor ethical to do it under sedation. Doing the sub gingival descaling required is painful.
Yes there is a risk with every general anaesthetic, but it is minimal and definitely lower than the risk of dental pain and infection from bad teeth.

I can pay the bill I just don't like paying silly money out of loyalty.
I see why it's expensive, the fat short toothed one is only four and her teeth are already coated. It'll be a regular job I think

Ours were £320-350 for extractions and a polish/clean. He was happier after having it done so it was 100% worth it.

Think it was about £300 ish. I thought it was always an anaesthetic - can't see any cat sitting there while you do a dental and sedation is basically less safe for the cat than an anaesthetic.

My cat was oblivious to it having been done, and threw up on several carpets in a reaction to the anaesthetic so be prepared!

Harry's last dental was £420 in total (including his healthy pet club discount) but that also included x rays. We also paid £280 for blood tests as he's an old boy.

Thankfully the insurance covered most of it!
