First things first, I am a very experienced cat owner. I've had cats since I was a very young child and I'm now in my 40s. I've never not had at least one cat.
Currently I have a 13 year old neutered senior fellow with heart failure, but he's doing very well on his meds. You can tell he's getting older, he likes sleeping and doesn't really play any more, but he's still happy, eating and drinking etc.
He's always been an only cat, but he gets on ok with the other cats in our close and doesn't fight, even when one sometimes comes in through the cat flap and eats his food! He has one special friend in the close and they often lie on the driveway together basking in the sun.
The other day I saw a post by a cat rescue centre of someone urgently needing to rehome their 3 cats, aged 5 and 8. I haven't been able to get these cats out of my head and I'm worried they'll be in the shelter for ages because there's 3 of them and they need to be together. It says they can live with other cats and children.
Am I mad for considering enquiring about adopting them? I have literally fallen in love with them through the computer screen and I know I could give them a loving home. Is it unfair on my old boy though to introduce a clique of 3 though?
What would you do?
