Over the Rainbow Bridge - anything I need to do?

MrCat has been missing a couple of weeks. His body was found this morning. I think he got hit by a car, and hid in the bushes nearby.
Do I need to do anything about his chip, or the vets? Anything else I've not thought of?
I thought I'd accepted it when he didnt come home after a week, but I'm a mess right now.

Do you have insurance or pet club ? I would inform them

I tried to contact Ernies chip company but it was so tedious I didn't bother

So sorry about your cat. Let your insurance company know. You may get a pay out. ( depending on your policy) I got £200 when Maya died as she was under 9.

Insurance sorted, thank you.
Pet club will still run (free) for his sister.
Will take him off the vet list when I take said sister for vaccinations next month. I guess they might be able to deal with the chip too?

Kids seem to have been remarkably ok with today's developments. I'm still a mess

I’m so sorry to hear this. My baby boy was in a road accident on Tuesday and we’re absolutely devastated.
The vets are arranging cremation and are taking a paw print and fur clipping for us to keep.
I still need to ring the insurance. Sending love to you, it’s so heartbreaking 😢

The chip you don't do anything with chip numbers are never reused.
