Help! Kitten with chocolate poisoning?!

Hi everyone,

I have a kitten who is 13 weeks old. Today I think he drank some chocolate milk out of a bowl of cereal i had and stupidly left on the side (left over milk was a mixture of chocolate pillows and wheetos)

I saw him inspecting what was on the table but i thought it was an old water bottle i left on the side. I called the vet when I realised he may have drank some of it and they gave him charcoal to absorb what is in his stomach.

He looks fine and has been symptomless so far (its been about 9 hours) but I am so worried still and feel like the worst cat mum alive.

Has anyone been through something similar before? Or know how long after consumption symptoms can set in?

Thanks in advance - becca

There’s really not going to be enough chocolate in that to be toxic, don’t worry .
You might get explosive diarrhoea from the milk nd charcoal though !
Kitten will be fine, honest .

I wouldn't have worried too much as it wasn't actual chocolate and it would be well diluted by milk

My kitten was caught on the side finishing the kids cereal milk...chocolate flavour....I didn't think to be worried. We are trying to put things straight in the dishwasher as I don't want them to think it's ok!

Quite normal for a cat to finish off milk from cereal bowls (chocolate-y) & not IME.
