Kittens and 🕷 spiders

My kittens just came running in with a giant spider they had found. One cat was very determined it was her prize....growls, hisses the full works. I know this is all normal....but.....do I just let them eat it? It was massive, they are tiny.....I took it away but should I just leave them alone?

No picture of them with the spider I'm afraid.

@Bwlch - in the house? You have a 6 week old killing machine

No, outside. He was abandoned and we have adopted him, or rather he adopted us.

But they’re not killing them “for fun” in the same way as we might go for an evening out for fun. They play with them before death to sharpen their skills and they kill them even if they’re not hungry because they have an extremely strong instinct to.

Humans, on the other hand can use their brains in a different way and think about the suffering of animals and choose not to eat them. But most don’t. Animals bread for meat live a horrible, miserable existence, and not for the few minutes a mouse experiences with a cat, but for months and months and months.

I just think it’s unfair to paint cats as cruel when most humans turn a blind eye to much worse in the name of meat on their plate.

I loveeeee that my Demelza catches the flies lol especially when they start banging on the window and I cba to get up to open it to let them out 🙈 Although this morning she chewed it then spat it out Confused

I'm ambivalent about spiders. I leave some little dudes up there as they catch the mozzies, I think the MN term is 'environmentally friendly pest control'. Grin

However I got bitten by a spider last winter and OMG it hurt like a bastard! Shock It was like someone was holding a lit cigarette on my leg for a week.
