Dcat is a 10 yo rescue cat who we adopted just prior to lockdown - she has been my constant colleague and companion whilst I have been working at home.

She spends the morning asleep on the sofa, lunchtime on my knee, and then the afternoon sitting next to me looking out of the window and occasionally mewing and rubbing herself against my legs until her/our dinner, whereupon she finds DH or I and settles down on top of one of us until we go to bed.

The rescue centre said she was fine to go outside but she simply refuses to go - we have popped her outside (we have tried both the back and front of the house) and she runs straight back to the door and pleads to be let back in, whether or not one of us is with her. Catnip leaves her cold. We have tried several toys at different times of the day but excepting a brief play with a laser or chasing a moth after dark she just sits there disinterested or confused. She doesnt seem particularly curious so things like cardboard boxes are left completely alone and although she loves her food she uses the bare minimum of effort to extract a treat from a treat ball and then just wanders off. Although she seems happy enough and is hugely loving and affectionate I am concerned that she is a bit bored, can any of you wise cat slaves owners advise me if this is normal / if there is anything else that I can try please?

She's so gorgeous!

Some cats are just like that, they prefer home comforts and cuddles. I wish mine was, the rascal gets up to all sorts.

It's very tiring being so gorgeous and having excessive attention all day! Grin

Pleased Ollie is enjoying his time as a social media star. Ours has his own Instagram which I set up to ease the lockdown boredom!
