Getting a small kitten when you have a big kitten

Long-time reader / occasional poster here. Name change due to forgetting of password!

After a bit of advice really! I have a gorgeous 6 month old girl. I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old (much loved lockdown companion) and she’s amazing but still quite energetic and full on although she’s calmed down a lot the last few weeks, especially since being spayed. I always intended to get two litter mates but it didn’t work out like that.

So I now have the chance to adopt a little 10 week old boy. He’s completely adorable but I’m stuck on the logistics a bit! I understand you need to introduce them slowly but it’s a bit harder with two kittens. My girl still sleeps on my bed with me, but I couldn’t let a baby sleep in a room on his own could I? I would feel awful. But I couldn’t kick Girl Kitten out of my bedroom at night either.

Also wth that age difference are they likely to bond? Girl Kitten is still quite boisterous and obviously much bigger (although she is actually very petite for her age), I don’t want her thinking Boy Kitten is a new toy!

Anyone have any experience of a similar age gap?

I introduced a kitten to a 5month old and it went fine, he'll find his space. Lots of advice on introducing them slowly but both still relatively small, you'll do fine x

Thank you! I’ve decided to go ahead. Fingers crossed!

I don’t have experience of that age gap as mine are only 5 weeks apart but they also came from different litters. Be prepared for your resident kitten to give the newbie a hard time at first. I was told to swap their scents on bedding etc before I introduced them, but even then it wasn’t easy.. they are now best buddies though.
