My cat is being weird...

My cat is my best friend. I've had her 6 years. Last few weeks she just isn't herself. Still eating and drinking fine, will lay on me. But she's started spending more time outside and sleeping in weird places in the house that she's never slept before. She seems jumpy and on edge. Has anyone else had this? For info she way spayed at 6 months before she was ever allowed out and I got her as a 12 week old kitten so has only really ever known me. Any help much appreciated!

She sounds ace, have you got a picture? in my head she’s white with black ears.

BlankTimes · 23/08/2020 14:58

Hope puss get on okay OP.
I was at the emergency vet yesterday as my cat was initially peeing a little bit of blood then finding every corner in the house to squat in but couldn't pee.

Vet prescribed painkillers and these to keep her calm as he said her symptoms suggest it's cystitis because she's stressed. www.nutravet.co.uk/products/nutracalm

She has had cystitis a few years ago. She's so lovely and I couldn't stand her being in pain.

Pure black and very fluffy. Some grey in summer months.

She's a funny looking thing bless her. When she was a baby her ears were HUGE compared to the rest of her.

Ooh she’s gorgeous and so fluffy 😊

katie43210 · 23/08/2020 15:41

She is very fluffy. She likes to reinforce this by tickling me with her fluff to wake me up.

She’s super cute. Has the vet rung you back yet?

katie43210 · 23/08/2020 17:33

Vet has her booked in for 9.30, concerned because of previous UTI. Shes nil by mouth and to be kept in from midnight so I'm stuffing her with her faves til then.

Oh she's a beauty!

Paws crossed that all is well.

katie43210 · 23/08/2020 19:08

She's perfect. She went weird so I rang emergency vet, while I was on the phone she went completely back to normal. Taking her in at 9.30 tmoz, my girl will live forever

Well done. Still worth a check.

Foggyday124 · 23/08/2020 20:54

She looks lovely OP. I know what you mean about them helping go through tough moments. My cat is the best de-stresser.
You made me laugh so much when you said that she meaows when she gets in to say hello.

@katie43210 any news on DCat?

katie43210 · 26/08/2020 15:44

Hi! So sorry for the late reply. Vet ran some tests and couldn't find anything but at least I know she's OK. Shes definitely perked up, still not 100% but I'm not worrying anymore at least. Thank you for asking.

@foggyday124 she's been doing it for 4 years and it still makes me laugh every time. It's usually just the 2 of us so I think she's convinced she's human and I understand her. Bless her.

That is the sweetest thing!

katie43210 · 29/08/2020 15:47

She is truly wonderful and she seems much better today. I woke up laid on my front with her front paws on each of my shoulders and her lying the length of my back. Funny old thing she is.

Update. I woke up to cat licking my earhole having unwrapped the Fort knox of foil that was around my chicken and eating it. Normal service has been resumed and we're now sat on a 3 seater recliner sofa and she is taking up 2 out of 3 places. Bloody cat.
