Giardia, how to help cat?

Lovely boy has suspected giardia, second bout of the runs in 3 weeks, he's losing weight (300g so far) and generally a bit lethargic.

We've got the treatment (panacur?) from the vet, along with some Royal Canin sensitive food which he doesn't seem too keen on. Turned his nose up at the probiotic too.

We are supposed to be going away on Friday for a week and my DF was going to come in and feed cat etc, but now I don't know what to do!

How long could this take to clear up? He's been sick tonight too 😭

Giardia can be a bugger to get rid of unfortunately. One of mine had it and it took a few rounds of panacur and lots of cleaning to get rid of it, and staying on top of litter box hygiene as they can reinfect themselves.

Which probiotic did they give? Prokolin? If yes then try fortiflora, it’s a god send. Really plain food, chicken or white fish and rice for a few days. My vet said up to 5 days on just that is fine. I mixed it with the fortiflora as the cats go mad for it!
