Kitten with runny tummy!

I got my kitten on Monday, she was fine the first few days then I noticed on Thursday she had an upset stomach, took her to the vets Friday and since then she has been on a bland diet, a probiotic and panacur worming paste, she's on her last day of wormer, she doesn't seem to be going as frequently to the toilet but it's still not solid yet! Does anyone else have any experience with this? Aside from this she's very happy and running around like a loon

One of my kittens was exactly like this. I fed her small portions of boiled chicken until she was doing solid poops then i slowly reintroduced her to her kitten food. Tiny portions to get her tummy used to it.

Thanks @Plump82 hopefully she will get better!

My boy's first worming treatment saw him "decorating" a wall, maybe it's that?

Mummyoftwo91 · 19/08/2020 21:27

@JorisBonson we've also been there too with the decorated wall 😂 vet suggested the wormer to cure the upset stomach!

Cooled boiled chicken can be good, but cut it up into small pieces and let it cool in water to soften it (it will absorb some of the water), the runs could be making your kitten dehydrated. Also do not give cats chicken that has been cooked alongside onion or garlic (poisonous) and check that your kitten is not eating plants that may be causing problems.

I seem to say this all the time, but my kittens had constant bad tummies. After vet check etc we decided to try grain free food. There's loads of brands out there but we ended up with Sainsbury's own, which we've stuck with.

I've got another vets appt tomorow, she's been eating plain boiled chicken for over a week now mixed with a probiotic for her stomach, her belly looks so round and swollen now, I have to attempt to get a poo sample for tomorow wish me luck!

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I had a kitten who had diarrhoea and very round tummy on arrival and it turned out to be giardia, which is a right kerfuffle, but responded well to meds. So maybe it's that?

Mummyoftwo91 · 21/08/2020 14:06

I have the vets this evening! I managed to get a poo sample! I don't think it's worms as she's finished the treatment now, I made the mistake of googling what it could be and I wish I hadn't! What is that @nearlynermal ?
