Do any of your cats watch snooker?

I was channel hopping last night and happened upon this, and PiggyCat2, who to my knowledge has not even noticed the TV before, was hooked! I even got a Look when I switched it off!

My parent's cat (when I was a child in the dim and distant past) used to paw the (black and white) screen when snooker was on.

None of mine ever have, but to be fair I don't watch snooker Grin.

Apologies for my grammar. parents' cat

Cheeseybites · 16/08/2020 08:46

Yes! My childhood cat loved watching snooker.
We would put it on for her if she was sat on the back of the sofa, so eye level with tv, and she could watch for ages.

Do their heads move to follow the balls on the screen? Do they get scared when a ball comes straight at the camera inside one of the pockets, sometimes accompanied by the commentator saying "hold on to your tea"?

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/08/2020 08:53

My childhood cat did. Snooker was huge in the 80’s though so we all watched it.

Vinorosso74 · 16/08/2020 08:54

Yes, I used to have a cat who enjoyed snooker and would attempt to get a ball every now and then. Whilst channel hopping we also discovered he liked horse racing.

minou123 · 16/08/2020 08:57

Not snooker. Football is his sport.
He loves when the ball gets kicked off screen and he runs around the TV looking for it!

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 16/08/2020 08:58

I tried to get mine to watch Question Time and he watched a little bit but then fell asleep. Just like me! Grin

PaternosterLoft · 16/08/2020 08:59

Our girl cat walked into the room just as a tiger walked across the telly one day and she was hooked We had to rewind it for her loads Grin Now she has graduated onto watching proper cat videos. Prime has Kitten Party where she can see the other cats but her favourites are cat games on YouTube where she can chase the mouse or whatever. Also a fan of watching real life birds on theee but I'm not so keen because she looks as though she's going to launch herself at the telly.

That's so funny! Neither of our cats watches the snooker. But our dog does (so weird). He totally sits there like a statue staring at the TV as if he and Ronnie O'Sullivan go way back. The cats couldn't care less.

thelostartofkeepingsecrets · 16/08/2020 09:01

Ours loves snooker and football, she sits directly in front of the screen trying to catch the balls.

Piggypiggyoinkoink · 16/08/2020 09:52

They’re weird little sods aren’t they?

It says a lot for the pecking order in this house that I have already consulted the TV planner to find out when it’s on today Blush

When I was little my neighbour's cat loved the winter olympics - especially the luge.

TinkersRucksack · 16/08/2020 11:07

Yes. We used to have a big telly in a sort of cabinet, the cat used to lie on the top looking over onto the screen, then paw the corner of the screen when the ball went into the pocket

sashh · 16/08/2020 11:10

Remember when the red dot in the corner of the screen was a thing, one of the foresters was hooked.

Namechange6005 · 16/08/2020 22:18

😂

Toddlerteaplease · 17/08/2020 06:09

I've not tried snooker, but Cheddar loves Hey Duggee. And the late fatty lined the Yorkshire vet. Hmm
