Collecting kittens on Friday, need advice on cat carrier etc

Picking up a pair of 10 week old brothers on Friday. I'm so excited as we have been catless since the last of our 3 was PTS last October.

We will get them checked at our vets ASAP, and sort insurance, chipping and neutering and vaccinations and parasite treatment as soon as possible.

It's 15 years since we had a kitten, and we got rid of all our old cat stuff apart from our cat tree when our old boy went. So we are starting from scratch. I know what cat litter and food they are used to, so will get them some of that but move them onto the ones we prefer gradually. If they approve Grin

So I need new beds, cat carrier, and litter trays, and lots of toys.

Any recommendations for cat carriers? We had rigid body ones in the past but I see you can get a softer carry type now? Litter trays I take it deep and probably covered, and I'm planning to get 4 of them. Cat beds we will get 3 and they will ignore them and sleep where they want. Grin

Any advice or suggestions. I'm a veteran cat owner but its been a while since I have been a kitten slave so feel like a newbie!

I swear by the cat cabrio cat carrier at around £45

I have this carrier. Both my kittens fitted in it when I collected them at 8 weeks old. I have 2 now as my cats are 3 and too big to fit in one now!

4 trays is overkill. I started with 2 for mine but they only used 1. I have an xl high sided tray they both use.

Cat tree and scratching posts are handy too

I've got the curver ones that look like pic nick baskets. They are brilliant.

I agree with dementedpixie.

Maybe only get 1 cat carrier for the moment. As you are getting 2 brothers together, they may find comfort being together in the cat carrier.

I know you’re supposed to have one more litter tray than you have cats, but where would you put FOUR trays?! We have a new kitten and he has a tray in the bathroom, our other two cats go in the fields around our house (live rurally) unless it snows!

We got one large wire basket, that is top opening. It's amazing to get both ours into (at the same time!). So much easier than the front opening one I used to have to balance on its end to get our old boy into. I just put a load of blankets in the bottom for them to snuggle into.

Ours came from Amazon, but it was this brand and style. No idea about this trader tho.

Congrats on your new kitties!

I got this one...

It's great because it expands to give them room to move about on journeys, and it folds right down to nothing for storage. Veey versatile and practical.

Grin litter tray overkill then . Will go with 3. One in the bathroom one under the stairs and one in our utility area. They will be indoors until they have been snipped.

Thank you for the advice on cat carriers....Will definitely just get the one for now!
