Tips for clearing up cat sick

Any tips?
I am terrible with clearing up cat sick- makes me retch. Yesterday I was so loud when trying to clear it up the neighbours called over the fence to see if I was ok
i have tried covering it with kitchen roll, using an old dustpan, sprinkling it with bicarb but still retch badly.
Getting rid of the cats is not an option as I love them - didnt have the same problem with the kids when sick

If it's on the carpet leave it and let it dry. It makes it much easier to get off.

No tips on how to stop it making you retch though! I'm a nurse so we'll used to it. Plus cheddar used to be a huge vomiter!

Cover it liberally with sawdust, it will absorb the liquid and the smell.

If you’ve got carpets you can buy carpet shampoo machines for small stains, I think Bissell do them.

thanks for the tips. DH usually deals with this part of cat owning but was out and i didn't want to leave it in this heat.
