FIV positive cats - your advice?

I'm looking to adopt an indoor cat. I've seen the loveliest little chap who have FIV and wondered if any of you has experience?

I've had cats for many years so I'm not too worried.

I adopted a 10 year old cat with FIV. She was happy enough to stay indoors. She had very occasional and mild digestive issues, and she had cystitis once. Apart from that, no medical issues until she was 19 and deteriorated quickly - we had to pts when she couldn't walk anymore.

I'd say she was no different to having any other cat who you plan to keep as an indoor cat.

They really don't need to be kept indoors. Unless they get into fights, which they really almost never do if they're neutered, then there is no reason why they can't go out. Our charity doesn't home FIV cats as indoor only unless there is some other reason they need to be kept in.

And generally FIV cats live long, healthy and happy lives. The status can make some problems more difficult to treat or more likely, but generally they are just normal cats.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to meeting him.
