We are taking care of a family member’s cat for the next year. He knows us quite well and has lived in our house before, but always with his human here. Now his person has departed and he had to go in the hated car and be brought back here.

He’s a very calm and affectionate cat, and it’s only been 24 hours, but he seems so sad. I’ve popped in to the room he’s chosen to (morosely) nap in to reassure him. I know it’s only been a day, but he will adjust, won’t he?

Yes he will. He'll be fine.

Thanks - I feel so bad for him as he’s pretty down about the situation. Hopefully he’ll come to enjoy our company.

He'll be fine. Don't worry.
