Bicarb in litter tray..

I've read that bicarb sprinkled in the litter tray helps with smells. Does anyone do this? Is it safe with a young kitten? (9w old)

what litter is it? Some is smellier than others

Hi,
It's the wooden non clumping.. I'm not getting the kitten till later today. But from previous experience I'm sure the room will stink before long so just wondered as have never used before?!

Is that the same litter the kitten uses already? I've not used bicarb but you can buy litter fresheners.

I used wooden once and then never again. What about the crystal stuff?

That's pretty good.

HGKPG I use the wood pellet one from Pets at Home and when fresh has a lovely woody smell. I use a sieve tray and keep a gel air freshner near it.

Don't forget to become a member of The Litter Tray you must post cute kitten photos, it's the rules Smile

Hi thanks. The breeder says she has a mix so doesn't matter which one. I got the wooden pellets from pets at home, I had cats nest with my old cats but they'd sold out. I'll see how he/she goes! Thanks will post pics later

I use bicarb in my litter trays sometimes, cheaper than litter freshener and doesn't smell of baby powder (why baby powder?). Doesn't seem to have harmed my cats and they're one now (10 weeks when I got them). I use wood litter too and like the smell of the pets at home one Grin

If you getting smells with wooden litter you're doing something very wrong. How often do you change it?

GreenCat44 · 05/08/2020 19:34

Or buying the wrong wood litter, l find Asda's smart price litter smell horrid when it's wet. No idea why as the slightly more expensive one is fine.
