Lower allergy cats

We are pondering getting a kitten / cat, but in the past DD has shown herself allergic so we have been reading up on lower allergy breeds and the fact there is food that helps too.

I'm thinking what we need to do is sit DD indoors for an hour with whatever cat we find to test allergies.

But I don't know what I don't know.

Any useful words of advice for novice potential cat owners?

Siberian cats are lower allergy as they don't produce the saliva protein that most people are allergic too.
But they are high maintenance long haired breed who are very needy.
I have one by accident she has no concept of personal space, the hair oh the hair, she is not very bright, but she is very loving though likes to exhibit that by grooming your hair for you.
