Crazy kitten!!

Can anyone offer up any advice or maybe have any idea what's going on? Me and my DP got a beautiful little kitten about a month ago, all is well and good apart from one thing!! When DP leaves the house the kitten is a little angel with me he comes and sits on me he sleeps around me he eats his food when I'm around he wakes up randomly and cries for my attention but when DP comes home the kitten is crazy! All he wants to do is scratch and bite and pounce we thought maybe he wants to play or associates my partner with playtime but then when my partner gets the toys the kitten is so uninterested and just seems boredConfused on the other hand when I play with the kitten he loves it he's jumping around chasing his toys untill he quite literally drops (bless him) were just so confused we have both treated him the same apart from the fact I didn't fuss about him as much when he first came here and I also do the feeds? He's not nasty with my partner in fact he's showed some affection but when I explain how the kitten is with me alone he expresses how the kitten has never done any of this to him or very rarely eg; brings me his toys, headbuts me sleeps on me and more importantly behaves for me? We have tried to see how the kitten behaves when it's just my partner looking after him and he was such a naughty boy nipping and attacking and not listening? Please help we don't want this to come between us my partner is really put out by this Sad

Could it be more to do with the time rather than your DP ,
I live alone and when I first get up , and come in my kitten is sweetness its self but around 3 am and 10 pm he has a personality transplant and become a carpet shark attacking and biting anything that moves , he is just playing but at 3 am it is sodding annoying

Share the feeding duties so your DP is responsible for at least one daily feed. Maybe the first one of the day? Also your DP needs to teach the kitten not to scratch or bite him. Just stay still, say "No" and put the kitten down. Divert him with a toy.

I don't necessarily think it's the time because mine is the same 2-3 am onwards he's a little monster but we know that's his zoomie time and he attacks both of us but we do the toy diverting thing if were awake but no it's whenever my DP walks back into the room or is alone in a room with him for example dp went out today to pick up a few bits around 8 pm and came back around 9pm while he was gone the kitten was sleeping which he normally does at that time and the minute dp came in he's jumping on his arms and nipping him he even nips dps tummy when he doesn't have a top on !

It sounds like he sees your DP as a playmate not a provider. If DP feeds him it changes his (DP's) status.

Yep, feeding blob status changes how they relate to you. All of us in the house feed our mum-kitten rescue pair and so they are perfectly happy not to chew our arms off. Though my calico definitely prefers to sit on me. It's a household joke that I sit down and 30 seconds later I'm a cushion. Yet for the first 2-3 years it was rare for her to do this. It'll happen. You've only had it a month.

ps photo please! It's the Rules!

He’s a mummy’s boy. Ours loved dh but they’d be a digging in of the claws when running over his foot at 90 miles an hour that I didn’t get or a dirty look reserved for dh. He’d consistently ignore dh saying his name but look round if I called him.

You’re his person and there’s not much you can do about it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/07/2020 15:39

Oh I forgot, ours slept downstairs and if I took him down I’d get moaning and maybe the claws would dig in slightly more than was necessary imo but sometimes he’d latch onto dhs arm and bite him a bit.

Dh would tell him off and I’d tell dh off for shouting at the cat “he’s only little, you’ll scare him”.

I did say to dp that I might be his person and then low and behold the kitten sits behind him licking his head and and face (which he's never done to me) the kitten also sleeps a lot when he's out so maybe he gets depressed when DP goes out idk !!Confused

Cats eh? You’ve just got to roll with it haven’t you?.

Do you really want to licked anyway considering they lick their bums 🤨
